The Beaches and Coastlines Adoption Program For Mumbai Colleges

The Purpose of Education Is To Build Responsible Citizens

Raising awareness and empowering youth to lead the transformation of their beaches and coastlines and participate in helping build a sustainable future

Water Conservation Community Foundation recognizes the significant ecological importance of the marine environment.

Currently, youth are rapidly getting disconnected from nature and the environment. Isn’t the true purpose of education is to inculcate good human values and to become responsible human beings.

53% of Indian households defecating in the open, especially on our beaches and coastlines (Source: TOI, 2013), Is this not a disturbing statistic for the youth to consider?

College Beach & Coastlines Adoption Program

Every Saturday or Sunday for 12 weeks the college sends 15-20 volunteers to the beach. The volunteers will either conduct beach clean-ups or conduct toilet awareness and anti-littering awareness drives.

Colleges can adopt one beach for one quarter of the year each.

Students will also be trained by us in how to work and partner with local communities i.e building societies, NGOs, Rotoracts & Lions Clubs etc

All beach adoption campaigns will be planned in alignment with the local BMC Ward office

In addition we wish the students to hold awareness drives of public on not depositing pooja flowers in the ocean but in the golden pots developed by BMC for the depositing of the nirmalaya
